Christopher Randolph is a Boston-born actor and director who has cultivated a remarkably versatile career. His first brush with acting came early on, when his observant 2nd Grade teacher decided to cast him in the role of The King in the class production of Rumplestiltskin. Whether it was the warm glow of the footlights or simply the opportunity to sit on a throne and be regal, he was definitely hooked. More complex roles and productions followed throughout grade school, high school, college, and in grad school, where he earned an MFA in acting at the prestigious University of California San Diego Professional Actor Training Program.
Since then his stage career has spanned numerous productions on and off Broadway and in theatres across the country. He’s worked with award winning directors such as Darko Tresnjak and Sir Jonathan Miller; and has shared the stage with the likes of Christopher Plummer, F. Murray Abraham, and Jessica Chastain (to name just a few). Some of his favorite parts include Dr. Richard Gore in the New York premiere of Brian Friel’s The Home Place at The Irish Rep. (a performance which one reviewer described as “Brilliantly toxic”) and the role of The Man in Terrence McNally’s A Perfect Ganesh at The Odyssey in LA, which required 18 costume changes in a 3 foot wide backstage space with no assistance from a dresser. Proof that budget constraints, while exhausting, need not be an obstacle to success.
In the realm of Television and Film, he’s appeared on such iconic shows as Will & Grace, and Mad About You, and in films by Joss Whedon, Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden, Catherine Eaton, and Patrick Chen.
His ongoing work as a voice actor has garnered him great acclaim for playing the popular characters Hal “Otacon” Emmerich and his father Huey Emmerich in the best-selling Metal Gear Solid series of computer games; and a live action feature film based on the series is in development. He’s also voiced roles in major games such as Red Dead Redemption II; Mafia III; and characters on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim channel.
In addition to his MFA, Christopher holds a BA in English Lit from Boston University, has studied acting in England and Japan, and trained with American master acting teachers Earl Gister, Lloyd Richards, and Ron Van Lieu. His more adventurous side has led him to sail to Bermuda on a 42 Ft. yawl and work as a cowboy on a ranch in Arizona; but he also enjoys calmer pursuits, like cooking gourmet meals and getting dirty in the garden. He lives in Brooklyn, NY, but spends as much time as he can along the waters of Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts, where his family has a home.
